The Green Cluster for Science and Conservation Research is organising the upcoming Strategic Meeting on Green Conservation for Cultural Heritage to be hosted at the Royal Institute for Cultural Heritage, KIK-IRPA, in Brussels on Thursday, February 26, 2026.
This strategic policy meeting brings together European Commission policymakers and leading practitioners in conservation, cultural heritage, sustainability, and industrial stakeholders to explore how green conservation can be more effectively integrated into European cultural heritage policy. The day aligns the work of the Green Cluster with European policy and industry, highlighting opportunities for integration, implementation, and support based on green innovation and technological developments.
The meeting will feature a morning session sharing the latest advances in sustainable and green innovation for cultural heritage conservation, presented by three Horizon Europe research projects—GoGreen, MOXY, and GreenArt. The afternoon session will feature policy-focused discussion, including a panel with representatives from the European Commission, invited policy stakeholders, and relevant experts, including the Executive Director of Europa Nostra, Prof Dr Hermann Parzinger and GreenHer CoE Interim Director, Prof Dr Matija Strlič.
The afternoon session will focus on current and future pathways for policy integration, including guidance mechanisms, funding frameworks, pilot initiatives, and soft policy instruments to help embed green conservation principles into future EU policy development.
